Webinar Description: This presentation will focus on reviewing the research behind new dietary guidelines for Crohn's disease.  Additionally, there will be discussion on how to translate this research into practical skills when working with patients hoping to manage their Crohn's using diet-based strategies. The presentation will also Introduce LyfeMD, a mobile based digital health application to help patients better manage IBD using lifestyle therapy.

About the Speakers:

Lorian Taylor, PhD, MPH, RD - University of Calgary

Lorian Taylor (RD, PhD) is the research director at Ascend - Alberta’s Collaboration of Excellence for Nutrition in Digestive Diseases at the University of Calgary, Department of Medicine. Lorian recently helped develop new food guidelines for inflammatory bowel disease being published in Lancet Gastroenterology and is a Co-Founder of LyfeMD, a digital mobile application delivering lifestyle therapies to patients with IBD. Her research program focuses on dietary interventions targeted to modify the gut microbiome in patients with IBD. She completed her PhD in behavioural medicine and has advanced certifications in motivational interviewing, health counselling and is completing a cognitive behaviour therapy certificate program.

Haley Pomreinke, RD - University of Calgary

Haley Pomreinke (RD, BSc) is a registered dietitian at the University of Calgary, Department of Medicine. She focuses on helping implement research initiatives and counselling people to be successful with specialized diet therapies for IBD. She has past research experience focusing on malnutrition in cirrhosis and metabolic syndrome. She also practices inpatient care in internal medicine at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton and holds a restricted activity to prescribe parenteral nutrition.
